Over the past few years I’ve met just a few people on websites who have become and remained close and highly valued friends. I’m very grateful to them for their affection and support. My domestic circumstances have changed over the past four years in ways that mean that I can't meet new people, but I’m still happy to chat here with genuine people who are looking for interesting conversation, especially if they share any of my interests.

I’m a retired university teacher, specialising in linguistics. Not surprisingly one of my main interests is in foreign languages and cultures, especially Spanish, French, Italian and Dutch. Food and wine are a source of particular enjoyment and interest, and I enjoy eating out with friends. Also extremely important in my life is classical music. I’ve been playing the piano since childhood and very much enjoy going to concerts - orchestral, choral or of chamber music – and get particular pleasure from listening to, as well as playing, classical piano music. I’m a member of a group of people who are seriously interested in the piano and its music and meet regularly to play for one another.
