Why We Check Age

From July 2025, UK law (The Online Safety Act, overseen by regulator OFCOM) requires us to prevent anyone under 18 from accessing adult content or using our services.

We use age‑assurance methods that OFCOM has confirmed in their guidance as "highly effective".

Highly Effective Age Assurance

We may show you our Age Assurance Methods as a list of options to choose from. If you're already a user, you might have already completed one: For example, by upgrading via text from an adult-unlocked phone or by using the site recently on an adult-unlocked mobile connection. Some of these checks we can perform without interaction from yourself (for example, Verify by Mobile Connection).

We use the following methods:

Verify by Mobile Connection. We check your phone allows adult content by using details about your mobile connection.

Verify by Text. We check your phone allows adult content when you request a FREE Age Assurance PIN code by text.

If you look over 25: Verify by Face AI. We check you look older than 25 by using your selfie cam and AI. We use special software that determines that a user is "live" and not showing a static photo or video. We do not keep any information or images during this process.

Verify by Face AI and ID. If you look under 25, we use your selfie cam and an official ID document such as passport or driving license, which is analysed in a few seconds. We do not keep any information or images during this process.

By Credit Card (not Debit Card) We take a small payment which also upgrades your account to Site Supporter. We check if you have used a Credit Card, which is only available to those 18+ (not a Debit Card) for this payment.

Designed for Privacy

We have designed our age assurance services to put your privacy first in line with guidance from the ICO about Age Assurance data. We do not store any information including date of birth, biometric information or apparent age: We simply record if you have passed the check. Any data needed during Age Assurance is securely deleted at the end of the process.
